Reception of the Mortal Remains

(This takes place in the church porch or entrance when the Mortal Remains of the Deceased has not been received prior to the Funeral Service)

Where pastorally appropriate family and friends proclaim the Scripture Readings, Psalm and Prayers of Intercession. Should a deacon or priest be present they proclaim the gospel otherwise the person who is leading the prayer service does so.

Family and friends are also invited to present the gifts of bread and wine at the Offertory Procession.
